Writing & 1916: a conversation with Lia Mills

We are very proud to announce that the very first guest to join us on The Attic Sessions will be the wonderful novelist, Lia Mills, whose book Fallen is this year’s Once City One Book choice.

Lia Mills is the author of three novels, Another AliceNothing Simple and Fallen, as well as a memoir, In Your Face.

Her first novel, Another Alice (1996) was nominated for the Irish Times Irish Fiction prize. Her second novel Nothing Simple(2005) was shortlisted for the Irish Novel of the Year at the inaugural Irish Book Awards. In Your Face (2007), a memoir of her diagnosis of, and treatment for oral cancer, was named as a favourite book of 2007 by several commentators. Her third novel, Fallen, is set in Dublin 1914-1916.

In an interview to be recorded this week on St Patrick’s Day, Lia will be talking with Nessa O’Mahony about her inspiration for Fallen and how creative writers have been responding to 1916 and Irish history.
